Hi, I'm Anna
I was drawn to this work because of the impact counselling had on my own life. For many years, I lived according to other people's expectations, following paths that looked right from the outside but didn't always feel right for me.
Counselling helped me understand myself more deeply and make choices that were more authentic, even if they were uncomfortable.
These days, I'm still navigating the challenges and messiness of everyday life, balancing work, relationships and finding time for adventure (it sounds easier than it is!).
My own experiences have taught me that life rarely unfolds in a neat or predictable way, and that meaningful change often begins with understanding ourselves more fully.
How I Work
I'm generally a calm presence in the counselling room and I leave plenty of space for reflection. I understand how worrying and frustrating it can feel when part of you knows something needs to change, while another part wants to keep pushing through.
Working at your pace, I will help you to notice patterns that may be keeping you stuck. Together, we'll explore where those patterns came from, how they helped you cope, and whether they are still serving you now.
I am informed by relational, psychodynamic and humanistic approaches, alongside an understanding of the nervous system and the ways our minds and bodies adapt to cope with difficult experiences. Where it feels helpful, I may also draw on creativity, body awareness and breathwork.
Qualifications & Experience
In 2022 I completed my BSc (Hons) in Psychotherapeutic Counselling from Matrix College, accredited by Middlesex University. This training was integrative & relational with a big focus on trauma.
Before moving into private practice, I worked with clients through CPSL Mind, CHOICES Counselling and Cruse Bereavement Support, supporting people experiencing anxiety, trauma, depression, bereavement, relationship difficulties and life transitions.
Many of the clients I’ve worked with since I qualified have experienced relational trauma in childhood which have contributed to the difficulties they experience today. Not that everything is linked to childhood, but equally, it is such an important time for our development that often the echoes of our childhood relationships can be seen in today’s relationships.
I regularly complete CPD and as someone who loves learning this is a real pleasure.
I am a fully accredited member of the BACP (register no 398612). You can find me on the register here.
