My Approach

I am an integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor, meaning that I work with a range of counselling traditions.

My main influences are psychodynamic and humanistic theories. In simpler terms, I believe in the importance of our history and experiences in terms of who we come to be, and also in the power of humans to develop and find balance, given the right conditions.

I am also interested in breath work, the body, movement, nature and creativity, so these often feature in work with clients.

I have experience of working with a range of issues, including bereavement and loss, trauma, anxiety, depression, stress, life changes and sexual abuse.

I am a registered member of the BACP (membership no: 985344) and adhere to their ethical framework. I work with adults aged 18 or above.

What is a Counselling Session Like?

Sessions are weekly and are 50 minutes long, either face to face in my therapy room in Marholm, just outside Peterborough, or via Zoom. Current availability is on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons.

Together we will look at what is troubling you and how you’ve arrived here. We will explore patterns and will build on your strengths to help you to live a more fulfilling life.

Counselling is not advice. I will not tell you what to do or how to live your life. Instead, you might be offered some tools and suggestions, for you to decide what works for you. You are the expert in your own life.

I believe that our minds and bodies are very closely linked, so we might tap into the body’s wisdom, breath work and creativity (no artistic talent required!) to support our work.

All of this will be done in a confidential and safe space, and at a pace that feels comfortable to you.

Getting Started

Initial Contact

The first step is for you to contact me, by email or contact form on this website. It's helpful if you can include some information about why you're looking to start counselling. I will get in touch to find a suitable time to meet for a session.

First Session

The first session will be a little different to most sessions. You can tell me more about yourself and what is troubling you. I will also explain how I work and give you plenty of opportunity to ask questions.

£50 per session, payable by BACS before the session or in cash if seeing me face to face.
